Open Space Discussion

Open Space discussion topic that I, ClydeCutting, proposed:

Which Became...

The topic evolved into a discussion of "Behaviorally Anchored Self-Assessment". This was thanks to the presence in our group of GaryJedynak, an experienced practitioner and proponent of this performance assessment method.

Out of this discussion ClydeCutting and GaryJedynak decided to propose two workshops on Developer Capability Maps at the [Agile Development Conference 2003] on June 25-28 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

You will want to also check out two examples of types of capability assessment documents:

Online Java BASA

There is now an online version of a BASA for the Java Programming Language at http://www.c4dsd.com/preview/java-basa.html . This online assessment is an outgrowth of work in the OTUG C4DSD special interest group. See http://www.otug.org/groups/c4dsd.html for more information.

Martin Fowler, Paying For Better Value

My interest in this topic began at the Agile Universe 2002 (http://www.agileuniverse.com/home). Martin Fowler led an Open Space discussion on Paying For Better Value. The topic wasn't certification directly, but how could we demonstrate better value to justify higher rates.

Here's the wiki page from that discussion:
