This morning, we got up and went to the pastry shop again for breakfast. Michelle had a hot chocolate and ham and cheese croissant, and I had orange juice and a fruit, granola, and yogurt cup. Then we hopped on the cable car and rode over to near Ghiradelli Square. We went to Blazing Saddles and rented bikes and helmets. We rode west along the waterfront from Ghiradelli Square to the Golden Gate Bridge. Then we rode our bikes across the bridge! The views were great, and we stopped every so often along the bridge to take pictures and enjoy the view. It was somewhat busy. There were other tourists going slow and wandering back and forth in the narrow bike path, but I thought it was the non-tourist bikers zooming by without warning that was the most stressfull.
We made it across the bridge, parked our bikes, and checked out the view from the vista point on the north side. Then we got back on our bikes and rode along the street down the hill to Sausalio. We locked up our bikes again, and walked around the town a bit. We got salads for lunch at a nice little cafe, did some shopping, then got ice cream cones for dessert. We retrieved our bikes and caught the ferry back to Peir 39. We returned out bikes to Blazing Saddles, and rode the cable car back to our hotel.
We showered and got dressed up for the fancy dinner ASHNR was hosting at the Asian Art Museum. There were busses from the hotel to the museum, but there was a small problem. The San Francisco Love Parade had finished in the square in from the the museum, which was blocked off and full of load music and colorful people. The buses had to park a block away, and all the doctors in suits and fancy dresses had to parade through the Love Parade crowd to get to the museum. No problems, but it was a rather amusing juxtaposition. In the museum we had really good asian finger food for dinner. There was actually a variety of other things as well - teak and mashed potatoes, ravioli, chicken, and cookies and tiramisou on the dessert table. The ASHNR also had the museum to itself, so when we finished eating, Michelle and I wandered off arm in arm to explore the museum. It was very nice. The was art from China, Japan, Korea, India, and places in between. Lots of Buddas. :)
At about 9pm, the party was winding down, so we caught the bus back to our hotel and went to bed, tired after a long day.
