A Little morning surfing. I was investigating the new Nickel Creek CD, "Why Should The Fire Die?" After listening to the previews on Amazon, it seems like it might be OK, but really, the boand is headed the opposite direction to what I loved about the first CD. I liked the instrumentals so I was wondering if I could find anything similar. The only trick is to find a CD that is not flat out repetetive. I've got two of those. My favorite CDs (the one's I can listen to at work for days on end) are the ones that are in a style I like, but are not the same song played over and over.

So far I've found that Chris Thile is the mandolin player from Nickel Creek, and he has some instrumental CDs. Not All Who Wander Are Lost looks worth a shot. Looking for related musicians, I found Béla Fleck. Drive sounds promising. Maybe Live Art for even more variety.

And now off to listen to Nickel Creek.
