Michelle's call drug on for quite a while last night, and I was up late working on our budget, so we slept in this morning. It was very windy this morning, and a chair blew over on our third floor patio and woke me up at about 9:30am. I got up and finished what I was working on in the budget, then got Michelle up for lunch.
We went to Central Market and got one of their excellent cowboy burgers. We also did some grocery shopping. We got ingredients to make risotto for dinner (shitake and cremini mushrooms, onion, peas, parsley, and parmesan cheese), along with salad and bread. We also got trail mix for our trip to Peru and other groceries.
We came home to put the groceries away, then went to Half Price books. The carnage was awesome. Their computer section was unusually good today, though by the time I left it was back to being picked over. :) I bought nine computer books for $114.35. Heck, you can barely get one or two of Michelle's medical books for that. Of course, at list price, it would have been $352.69. Hmm. 68% off. Not bad! I love Half Price. :) Michelle got travel books and rose books. It's pretty obvious what our respective hobbies are. I spent so much time in the computer section I didn't even get to the fiction section.
We had a coupon for Barnes and Noble (and I had a gift card) so we went there next. They didn't have the book I was hoping for (Enterprise Integration Patterns) but they did have a travel book Michelle was looking for, so we got that. I also found out that Orson Scott Card has released the next novel the the Ender universe, "Shadow Of The Giant". Mmm, another book to drool over.
We came home and cooked dinner. The risotto was very good. This is the first time we've cooked at home for three months or so. I guess we've been really busy. :)
We spent the rest of the evening doing a dress-rehearsal pack for the trip to Peru. Things are looking good! I've got a new backpack and camera bag, and I think they are going to work very well. We've certainly got plenty of space. We just have to make sure we stay withing our weight limits, but I think we're set! I'm excited. Of course, I've got a list of about eight things to get ready before the trip, so we're not quite there. But close!
