Journal: 2004-11-19

I was looking back at some of my old journal entries, and I gotta say, my journal used to be much more interesting than it is now. I want to start writing in my journal more comsistently, but I haven't decided whether I will yet. At some point here, I'm going to sit down and work out my priorities*.

I did add notes for another project that's about creating a generic infrastructure for web comics and anything with a similarly linear structure. It's not a brand new idea for me, but I did spend some more time thinking about it, and I've decided that I'm going to start creating pages for more of my "thought-only" projects. I also hope to put up a project page for the Wonderland Trail Expedition soon.

Today I officially reached my goal weight of 156 lbs. I started last Christmas at 188.5 lbs., which means I've lost a whopping 32.5 lbs. My plan is to stay at this weight indefinitely, and keep exercising. So what's it like? Well, I don't feel that different. I've got more muscle definition but I'm not exactly chiselled. I still have love handles - feh. My old pants just fall off - I've had to get new ones. I went from a 35/36" waist to a 31/32" waist. I had to add some more holes to my belt. I think my shirts may be a bit big too, but I've always worn them loose so I don't find it as noticable. The other main thing I've noticed is I seem to have lost most of the padding in my butt. I never used to get a sore bottom when sitting on hard surfaces! I actually managed to get a bruise on my butt from just doing sit-ups! I can't say I'm pleased with this turn of events, but I guess you have to take the bad with the good

Last weekend we got an exercise mat and a small weight set at Target. I don't know. Realizing you're excited about getting exercise equipment is kind of like realizing you're excited about getting clothes for Christmas. :) It's the end of an era.

Michelle got off work early today, so we went to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the local science center. It was pretty neat. The exhibit talked about the discovery of the scrolls, the religious / political environment the scrolls came from, and what kind of text was on the scrolls themselves. Of the actual scrolls, there were about nine fragments approcimately the size of my hand, and one about as long as my arm.

We also went to a party this evening at Dr. Hockhauser's. Everyone brought something, so there was a lot of variety, but there was a lot of Thai food, which was rather unique. The pad thai was really good!
