EGADS! Sojourner is toast! I've only had it for a little over a year. When I came in on Thursday night, it was down (monitor on powersave / no signal, keyboard unresponsive). There were no clues why, so I rebooted and everything seemed OK. Then today at about 2:30pm, I was using it and everything disappeared (monitor on powersave / no signal, keyboard unresponsive). A reboot had no effect. The LEDs were on and the drives spun up, but no POST beeps, video signal or anything. I took off the cover, and tried it again. The internal LED reported it was hung on the preliminary memory test. I took out the modules and reseated them and tried them individually, but the diagnostic LEDs never get past "copying firmware to RAM" which comes right after the initial memory test. It passes through the CPU test ok, so the problem is either with the memory modules or the motherboard itself is horked.

I checked on the memory, and the price is almost half what it was when I bought it a year and a half ago. If it really is the memory modules, I can get them replaced under warranty, but it'll take at least a week. I'm thinking I'll buy another module and see if it makes the system work. If so, I'll send the dead two off for replacement and limp along on the new one. Then when they come back I'll have 1.5G. Of course, if that doesn't work, I'll have to decide what to do about the motherboard.

OK, I bought a DIMM from CompUSA and it makes the computer work, so I'm getting an RMA from Corsair. Unfortunately, it's not the same kind as what I got from Corsair, so I think I'm going to have to return it when I get the new DIMMs from Corsair.

When Michelle came home from work, we went to see Intolerable Cruelty. It was actually a pretty funny movie. Then we went to Chipotle for dinner. How to they make those burritos so good?
