Today, Michelle and I planned to head to Pike Place Market in the morning. Lance was feeling ill and Michael was presiding over the house of lethargy, so Michelle and I went to the market by ourselves. The market is always a lot of fun. The flowers and the produce and the seafood are always very enticing. This time we saw some artwork we really liked - they were scenes from the market done in pastels. We ended up buying a couple prints at around $20 a piece. The ladies at the pepper jelly stand were feeding us samples very enthusiastically. I think we must have tried just about every flavor. We also finally bought some of the flavored almonds which we usually just sample. We decided to return to our car, but we stopped by the quilt store to see if they had any neat designs to inspire us this time.
We went the Steamers for lunch, which is our favorite fish and chips place on teh waterfront. We had fish and chips and clam strips. As we were finishing, Lance, Kelli, and Kyle finally made it to the waterfront, so we sat with them and enjoyed the view while they had fish and chips for lunch too.
We decided that we'd like to take a Lake Washington boat tour, which started at 3:30pm. I contatcted Michael, and he and Jet were interested, so we told them to get tickets and meet us at dock. We had over an hour until the tour departed, so Michelle and I wandered around the market a bit with Lance and Kelli before we carpooled over to the boat dock on Lake Union.
We met up with Michael and Jet and hopped abort the boat for our tour. I enjoyed it. We got to see the sailboats racing around Lake Union and all the boats tied up for the Huskies football game. We learned about the floating houses and got to see Bill Gates's house.
After the boat tour, we hoped to go to Melting Pot for dinner, but there was no way we could get a spot. Instead, Michael took us to a neat little Brazilian place. The food got mixed reviews. I liked mine; Michelle didn't care for hers. To finish off the night, we went to a gelatto (Italian ice cream) place on Queen Anne Hill called Dolce Vita (I think). That was good, though I wasn't brave enought to try the exotic flavors like lemon cucumber basil. After that, we decided to call it a night and we went back to our hotel room.
