Louis's pictures from 4-1-2001

This was the second and final day of Michelle's, Jocele's, and Carolyn's visit to New York. Today, we got up much earlier. We caught the 9:00am train to Grand Central, and set off from there to explore Central Park. Unfortunately the weather didn't hold and it started to drizzle slightly when we got in to New York City, but we decided to walk through Central Park anyway.

The first thing we came across in Central Park was the coffee stand! We decided we needed coffee to warm up, and of course needed a little muffin or croissant to go with that. Here are Michelle, Jocele, and Carolyn having breakfast. As soon as we stopped, we were surrounded by birds and squirrels looking for food.
We continued through the park, and stopped to take pictures at the Lake and Bethesda Fountain. Here are Michelle and I in front of the fountain.
It's the Med School Trio - Michelle, Carolyn, and Jocele.
This is Michelle in front of the Lake in Central Park.
Here are Carolyn and Jocele chatting, enjoying the atmosphere of the park.
We continued our walk, following the trail around the Lake. This is a picture of a bridge reflecting in the water, with the City skyline in the background.
Here we are looking back across the Lake from the far side. This picture captures the atmosphere of the day, with the fountain reflecting in the water, and the City skyline peeking throught the gray sky.
Here I am in front of the Alice In Wonderland statue in Central Park. I just think this statue is so cool!

At 11:30am, we left central park and headed over to Tam's apartment to meet Tam and Jeremy for lunch. We followed them into Chinatown, looking for a dim sum restaurant that they knew of. They weren't sure exactly where it was, so we had a good time wandering through the crowds and shops of Chinatown before we finally found it (near Catherine Lane and Lafayette). It was great - good food, low prices, and classic dim sum atmosphere!

Here we are all together after finishing our big lunch. Unfortunately, I didn't take the picture while there was food on the table, but at least I remembered to take one this time! Michelle, Carolyn, Jocele, Tam, and Jeremy. Yes, we had a little tea problem. :)
Here are the Techers, back together again: Jeremy, Louis, and Michelle.
Leaving the restaurant, I tried to get some pictures that captured the Chinatown atmosphere. Here is Michelle in front of a busy fish market.
This is Michelle in front of a butcher shop. I was trying to show all the roasted ducks and chickens hanging up in the window, but they are hard to see.
This is a pretty good atmosphere picture I took by holding the camera up above the crowd. Can you find Michelle, Jocele, Tam, and Jeremy in this picture?

From Chinatown, we said goodbye to Tam and Jeremy and went uptown again to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

While walking to the museum, we came across a pair of professional dog walkers! We had a good time looking at all the cute dogs and watching the dog walkers try not to trip over all the leashes.
Here are the dogs again, front view this time. I was suprised at how well behaved they all were.

We visited the Metropolitan Museum, then caught the train back to White Plains. I drove everyone to the airport and they flew back to St. Louis, tired after a fun weekend.
