Louis's Pictures From 10-15-2001
[ Zoom In All | Zoom Out All ]

One of the advantages of living on the East Coast is that, since all the trees are deciduous, during the fall the trees put on a spectacular show of reds, oranges, golds, and yellows. This weekend I went on a drive looking for fall color. I ended up driving through Bear Mountain State Park and Harriman State Park, which are just a little ways north of Tarrytown across the Hudson River. Bear Mountain State Park was packed with Ocktoberfest celebrants, but when I got around that traffic jam, I had Harriman State Park practically all to myself. It was beautiful.

After driving through some amazing scenery, I found a place to pull off the side of the road so I could hike back and take some pictures. Here is the view of the fall colors from the road.
After a little while, I decided to head cross country up the hill, so I could get some pictures without the road.
I stopped and sat on a large rock for a while, just watching the scenery and seeing if any wildlife would show up. Here's the forest view from where I sat.
I tried to get a picture of the sunlight illuminating the leaves, but the sun went behind a cloud just as I took the picture.
Here's another attempt to capture backlit leaves.
This guy tried to sneak up behind me.
Eventually, I went back to my car and continued driving. Here is another view from the road.
