Louis's Photos from 8-19-00

This weekend, my sister Kim came to visit me. On Sunday, we drove out to explore Long Island.

We drove out to the eastern most point of Long Island, Montauk Point. There was a nice path around the point, though the waves were splashing it at certain places. While here, Kim and I officially touched the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.
Same view, looking the other direction. Well, the waves almost got Kim. :)
Another picture, with a sailing ship in the background.
Here's another good picture of the sailboat as it came around the point.
Here is the Montauk Point Lighthouse. George Washington himself ordered that it be constructed.
On the way back we drove along one of the beaches on the south side of Long Island. It was a very Ritzy place. There were small mansions and private beach clubs and they wouldn't let you park anywhere. We finally found a spot to stop near Quogue, and we stopped to explore the beach. The beach was amazing. It was an endless sandy beach lined with beach houses.
This is the view looking away from the ocean. The beach was a narrow sandy strip, separated from the main island by a bay, as you can see in this picture.
It was very beautiful and quiet, and there were lots of shells all over the place. It was a perfect place to go beach combing. Here is a scallop shell laying undisturbed in the sand.
Here is Kim with her feat in the ocean. It was very calm and the waves were pretty small. No surfing waves here!
Here I am standing in the surf.
I always loose when I play tag with the waves. Oh well. :)
There were a lot of teeny gel-cap looking jellyfish all over the shore. It looked like a pharmecutical company spilled a shippment or something. Here I am studying one of the jellyfish.
